Abide the Day
"'Abide the Day,' was written in response to the great uncertainty of our time. This hymn reminds us of the promises and blessings of protection we gain through our relationship with Jesus Christ. If we 'look to Him in ev'ry thought,' we can rest in the peace He promises us" (Toni Thomas). Christ stands ready and able to lift us out of the depths of whatever ails us if we trust Him, and His timing. "Pray always that you enter not into temptation, that you may abide the day of his coming, whether in life or in death. Even so. Amen" (Doctrine and Covenants 61:39).

Verse one
Whenever clouds of darkness press,
Thy Light, O Lord, yet pierces all.
If love wax cold and sin oppress,
In Thee we shall not fail nor fall.
We shall not fear; we shall not doubt
Should storms of opposition rage,
But look to Thee in ev'ry thought
And, bright with hope, abide the day.
Verse two
When in a dim, uncertain hour
We know not what tomorrow brings,
Yet ever trust Thy matchless pow'r
To bear us up on eagles' wings.
For with Thy blood we have been bought.
We know Thy love and bear Thy Name.
We look to Thee in ev'ry thought
And in Thy peace abide the day.
Verse three
Whenever heavy burdens wear,
We meekly bear all for Thy sake.
Though sorrow tempt us to despair,
We seek the solace of Thy grace,
Till tried and proven we are brought to rest in Thee, no more to stray.
We look to Thee in ev'ry thought
And in Thine arms abide the day.
