Come Away, Exultant Angels
"Come Away, Exultant Angels" is set as a hymn that tells of the several witnesses of Jesus' birth: Exultant angels, faithful shepherds, wondering wisemen, and weary children. The text encourages all of God's children to leave behind the trivial things of the world and seek out the Christ Child.

Verse one
Come away, exultant angels;
Fly the hallowed courts on high.
Sounding joy and peace, assemble;
Rend with splendor velvet sky!
For in royal condescension,
Jesus, Lord of all above,
Comes to earth to bring salvation.
Angels, sing redeeming love!
Verse two
Come away, O faithful shepherd;
Leave your careful-tended sheep.
Hasten to the stable yonder
Where the Lamb of God now sleeps!
Mary bears Him, pure and tender;
This, the sign that angels tell:
Wrapped in linen, laid in manger.
Witness Lord Immanuel!
Verse three
Come away, O wond'ring wiseman;
Bring your gifts of spice and gold.
In the heavens, newly risen,
Star of Judah, long foretold.
Follow far that star from heaven,
Called to witness Jesus' birth,
There to find the true gift given:
Christ, the light of all the earth.
Verse four
Come away, O weary children;
Leave your works of clay and tin.
Come unto the Holy Infant;
Lay on Him your grief and sin.
Tell the world with glad rejoicing!
Bear the witness borne above:
Angels, shepherd, wiseman voicing
Songs of sweet, redeeming love!
